Lost your Egyptian passport abroad?

Stay calm and follow these steps. An emergency travel document can get you home.

Steps

  1. Report the loss to the local police and get a written report.
  2. Contact the nearest Egyptian embassy or consulate — use the Embassy Finder.
  3. Ask about an emergency travel document to return to Egypt.
  4. Bring: the police report, any ID copies, passport photos, and proof of Egyptian nationality if available.
What not to do
Don’t leave the country by unofficial means or pay “fixers” who promise fast documents. Only the Egyptian mission can issue a travel document.

Before you travel next time

Keep a photo of your passport’s data page in your phone and email, stored separately from the passport itself.
