If you lose your passport

  1. Report the loss to the police / tourist police and get a report.
  2. Contact your country’s embassy or consulate in Egypt — use the Embassy Finder.
  3. Bring ID copies, photos and the police report to apply for an emergency travel document.

Before you call

Have ready: your location (nearest landmark), the nature of the emergency, your nationality, and a callback number.

Language tip

Operators may have limited English outside tourist areas. Ask hotel staff or a bystander to help translate, or use the tourist police line (126), which is more likely to have English speakers.

⚠️ Emergency numbers can change and vary by area. In a real emergency, call local services directly and verify numbers locally. This page is informational.
